Concentration: medical nutrition therapy for mood disorders, eating disorders and substance abuse
Margaret Garrity is a dedicated registered dietitian specializing in work with both adolescents and adults with eating disorders and substance abuse for the past 5 years. Margaret has been passionate about food since her study abroad experience in Florence, Italy where she learned of the beauty and simplicity of food. She is now pursuing her CEDRD certification and has supervised a team of eating disorder dietitians at the residential level of care. Margaret has worked diligently to remain on the cutting edge of research and program development related to eating disorders. Margaret is passionate about cooking and incorporating the "all foods fit" philosophy into guiding meal plans. This philosophy avoids dieting and instead takes an unbiased approach to food as fuel for the mind, body and spirit. Within Margaret's scope of practice, she can also provide 1:1 consultation on PCOS, diabetes, GI upset, cholesterol issues and any other co-morbidity as it relates to nutrition.
Margaret is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, South Suburban Association of Nutrition and Dietetics Secretary and an International Federation of Eating Disorder Dietitians Ambassador. She has also had the opportunity to present on the national and international level about awareness and treatment of eating disorders.
Margaret sees nutrition as a common thread among society that can be used in balance, variety and moderation to nourish and energize our lives.
